Make Mistakes But Learn From Them And Come Back Even Stronger

It can be hard to admit when you’ve made a mistake. Especially when that mistake leads you down a road where you’ve disappointed more people than you ever thought possible.

I made a mistake.

It didn’t seem big at the time but this mistake forced me to set aside one of my dreams for the past 5 months.

No more giveaways.

I had lost my ability to do what my heart was telling me to do.

I could quit. I could say I tried and it didn’t work. I could go do something safe and keep my heart in a box.

But I’ll never do that.

Mistakes happen. You realize them, experience them, learn from them and bounce back even stronger from them.

So now I’m getting ready to start all over again, stronger and better than ever.

And I’ll love every minute of it and I hope that you will too.

Don’t Use Lack Of Money As Your Excuse To Not Start

I’ll be the first to admit that starting a project without any money is not ideal and can make things more difficult.

But you know what, the real thing that’s holding you back isn’t money, it’s yourself.

Money can’t replace passion, commitment, drive and sheer determination to succeed. Money doesn’t do whatever it takes to succeed and it certainly makes it easy for you to take no for an answer.

I know you’re smart enough to solve any problem that history says only money can solve.

I know you’re passion will drive you to succeed where money will only make you complacent.

And I certainly know you’re not the type of person to let a small obstacle like money get in the way of achieving your dream.

Or am I wrong about you?

What Do You Really Fear?

You have a great idea, a passion or maybe you just don’t like working 50-60 hours a week making someone else rich.

But you still work the job you don’t like, you don’t work on your great idea and you don’t pursue your passion.

And I know why. It’s because you’re afraid.

Working for someone else is safe. Not knowing when your next paycheck is coming is scary.

And then there’s the fear of failure. You certainly don’t want your friends and family saying “I told you so” about your idea that didn’t pan out or that pursuing your passion was “not realistic”.

But you know what’s really scary? Living your entire life knowing that you’ve done nothing to live your life as you’ve always dreamed of.

That’s what I really fear.

The Key To Getting Stuff Done Is To Just Do It

I was talking to a friend the other day and I was explaining to him how I balance working a full time job, raising two kids, and running a business.

The trick is, I explained, is to stop wasting time and just do what needs to be done.

If you take away the time you spend watching TV every night, the random web surfing and video game playing you’ll never be able to say that you don’t have enough time. There is plenty of time as long as you focus.

When you stop procrastinating you’ll be amazed at how much work you can actually get done.

So go and do something great.

Are You Making Anyone’s Life Better?

As an entrepreneur there is one fundamental question that I ask myself every single day:

Is what I’m doing making anyone’s life better?

It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant like finding the cure for cancer or the solution to climate change. In my case it’s as simple as helping someone out with a $25 gift card.

It’s not about money for me. Never had been and never will. Making people happy is worth so much more than money, wouldn’t you agree?

Focus on making someone’s life better first, then you’ll see the money part take care of itself.

Send Your Idea Into HYPERDRIVE

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog or giveaway videos you won’t be shocked to hear me say that I believe anyone can accomplish anything they desire as long as they’re willing to work hard and focus their passion.

The key is to start. Start anything. Most people never start.

Maybe it’s lack of confidence, fear of uncertainty or even laziness.

But you know what? You don’t have to do it alone.

When I started I went at it alone and I’ve realized one important truth: It’s ok to ask for help along the way.

With that in mind I want to let you know about a great new program by Communitech called Hyperdrive.

10 companies will be given the chance to work within a network of over 90 professionals and if you have a look at who’s in this network you’ll know that this is an opportunity worth so much more than money.

This is an intense program that isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re motivated enough backed up with a solid idea and plan this is a great place to start.

I plan to be there.

Where will you be?

Sometimes A Little Help Isn’t Such A Bad Idea

I love the idea of doing things alone.

To me there’s just something so romantic about coming from nothing and rising all the way up to the top. Beating all the odds and proving to everyone that told you can’t that you can.

But you know, even the best get help along the way.

It’s much easier to climb a mountain with a team then by yourself. And a lot more fun to have people to celebrate with when you get to the top.

How Will Your Story End

Everyone has a story. It’s always fun to hear people’s story, but lately I hear stories that start off like this:

I work for a company that I don’t like but it pays the bills.

I want to spend more time with my family but my job won’t let me.

I’ve always wanted to be a musician but had to give it up now that I’m in the real world.

Do any of these stories sound familiar?

If so, from this point on every day I want you to ask yourself: how will my story end?

Plan Your Contest For Success, Not Popularity

Running a contest is a little bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

You’re trying to reach that very select group of people that will look past your contest and look into what you’re actually trying to promote. Maybe you want to promote your blog or get people aware of a specific product.

Whatever your goal is you need to be able to find those needles by planning your contest in way that will eliminate as much of the haystack as possible.

This means that you don’t want to use a generic contesting template but rather run a contest that will be specific to your goals.

Don’t worry about not getting as many entries as this contest or that contest. Just worry about what’s best for you. As long as you and your contestants are happy with your contest (or better yet had fun!) then you’ve succeeded.

Why Do We Still Motivate Workplace Performance With Money?

When do you do your best work? Would you say it’s when you’re making a good salary or doing something that you love?

Well if you’re like me then you do your best work when working on something you love. Something you’re so passionate about that nothing but the best will do, when work becomes play.

Throwing more money at me isn’t going to motivate me to do better work and I’m betting it won’t for you either.

Now imagine working in an environment where your motivation isn’t money but rather a sense of purpose, fulfillment and accomplishment.

Wouldn’t that be something?

Worth more than an end of year bonus, wouldn’t you say?
